In 2008 to 2009, Jay-Z regained the top position as the highest earning rapper for the year with an annual income of US$35 million.

Diddy was second with $30 million, Kanye West in third with $25 million, 50 Cent in a tied fourth place with Aliaune “Akon” Thiam at $20 million.

The total income for the top 20 rappers dropped from $505 million the year before to $314 million in 2008/9.
